COVID-19 [Coronavirus] Action Plan UPDATE

Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School

As of 4/23/20

“The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.”- Psalm 18:2

Our ministry team at Bethlehem continues to monitor the iCoronavirus [COVID-19]. As the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and other government entities update information, we continue to make adjustments to our response.

NO PHYSICAL WORSHIP SERVICES WILL BE HELD ON OUR CAMPUS DURING THIS TIME.

Based on the latest information from the Governor’s office, we are extending our time of online worship, BethlehemKIDs, and large classes through the month of May.  I know we would all love to be able to resume worship together.  However, we have a civic duty to follow guidelines that will serve the health and safety of our community.
One important service impacted by this is our Confirmation service.  (We had rescheduled Confirmation for May 17.)  Since we will not be meeting in public worship, here is the plan for Confirmation:
BETHLEHEM SCHOOL STUDENTS GETTING CONFIRMED
On Monday, May 18, we will provide times for 8th grade Bethlehem school students and families to come in for a Graduation/Confirmation blessing in our sanctuary, one family-group at a time (10 max.), in half-hour increments.  Students will receive their diplomas and have the opportunity to take pictures. Then, I will do a brief service of Confirmation, Scripture verse blessing, and Communion with families.  After this, there will be a brief opportunity for pictures and the next group will come in.
BETHLEHEM MIDWEEK CLASS STUDENTS GETTING CONFIRMED
On Sunday, May 17, we will provide times for 8th grade students who do not attend our school to come in with their family groups (10 max.) for a Graduation/Confirmation blessing in our sanctuary, one family-group at a time (10 max.), in half-hour increments.  I will do a brief service of Confirmation, Scripture verse blessing, and Communion with families.  After this, there will be a brief opportunity for pictures and the next group will come in.
FINANCIAL Update – The Voters gave an overwhelming approval to applying for a forgivable loan from the Paycheck Protection Program of the CARES Act.  The loan has been approved!

WE NEED YOU to stay connected to our ministry. We have many staff on our ministry team who depend on your gifts, donations, and support for their livelihood. Our mission of reaching people with fullness of life in Jesus is also still on the front burner. There are several options for you to continue your financial support of our work together. We can help set you up on ACH for automatic withdrawal giving. Call the church office for the form. If you go to our website’s main page, on the far right there is an option to “Support the Ministry.” In addition, we have a brand NEW avenue for your convenience.  The ability to text your gift or submit through the “GIVE PLUS” mobile app is now available.  Click HERE for instructions on how to do so.

Some of you may be more comfortable mailing a check. Thank you for what you can do to keep the ministry of Bethlehem going during these challenging times. Especially in times like this, people need the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Other Ministries – As stated, all onsite group activities and ministries have been suspended. The church office will remain open.

Bethlehem Lutheran School

The governor just announced that remote learning will continue for the remainder of the school year.  Each week the teachers and I will meet via Zoom and discuss what is working and what needs adjusted for instruction and assessment.  We continue to evaluate and learn as we go. Next week we will be mailing home the Iowa Assessment scores but we did really great this year.  So proud of all our students. The School VIT and PPC are meeting soon to talk about tuition. Once we have an answer to your questions about tuition we will communicate it to you. Starting next week, Mr. Richter and Miss Becky will be recording and sending out a chapel video. We are still looking into possibly doing a live chapel on Zoom with the whole school at some point.  More to come on this possibility. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this new frontier together. Be safe.

Sunday Services are available online. We will email links to those on our email list. You can easily join by contacting Kim Musselman in our church office at 303.238.7676 or kmusselman@bethlehemdenver.com.

The Table – We have started offering “grab and go” meals, available for pick-up between 6-6:45pm every Thursday evening. Pray for the means to provide this blessing to our Bethlehem family living on “the edge.”

OUR PROMISE TO YOU – We are living in unprecedented times. This is a very fluid situation. Our promise to you is to be timely in our responses and action plans. We will be honest with you about the reality of our situation. We will be unabashedly hopeful of how our awesome God is working in all this. The Lord is our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer!
