BETHLEHEM STUDENT MINISTRY

Invest yourself in the next generation.

What is Impact?

IMPACT student ministry is a program devoted to raising up the next generation of young people in the Church through a program of intentional mentoring. By calling on older generations to develop relationships with the generations behind them, each student has a chance to not only learn from those who have gone before them, but also to create lasting partnerships that will encourage their future growth in the faith.

In IMPACT middle school, the mentors are adult and high school student pairs. These pairs are divided into boys and girls groups to allow the best learning environment for the middle school students as well as the development of mentor skills for the high school students.

In IMPACT high school, the mentors are young adults who provide guidance to the students as they
process the more complex and mature aspects of life as a young Christian.

IMPACT MIDDLE SCHOOL

IMPACT middle school is created for students in grades 7 & 8. While in many ways, it serves as an extension of confirmation, IMPACT middle school provides more opportunities for students to grow beyond the basic Bible teaching as they now begin to explore what faith looks like in a more mature Christian. This happens with what we call applied Bible teaching.

Applied Bible teaching means that the Bible stories they are learning or have learned are not taught simply to familiarize them with God’s working in the life of His people, but also how He continues to work in their lives everyday.

IMPACT middle school also serves as an opportunity for students to learn how they are connected to the Church at large as they engage in prayer for each other, service projects, and outreach in their community. It is our goal to not only teach them God’s truth, but to live that truth in love and service to others.

IMPACT HIGH SCHOOL

IMPACT high school is intended for students in 9th-12th grades. In connection with young adult mentors, high school IMPACT seeks to build on their faith development as each student explores the Scriptures in-depth, focusing on Christian faith as an adult. Students pray for, fellowship with, and discuss their faith with other high school students who are seeking answers to many of the same questions as each student seeks to understand the world around them.

IMPACT high school also has a series of fellowship events called RMR (Regular Monthly Recreation). These events encourage the students to grow in community as they grow in their faith. The events range from sporting events, to paintball, to bowling or dinner and a movie. The intention is to not only allow the students to get to know each other by having fun together, but to also provide a chance for each student to invite a friend into a more comfortable environment.
