FULLY ALIVE

From Here To There

Jesus said, “I have come that they might have life and have it to the full.”  From those words, we get our marching orders to pursue being fully alive in Jesus.  But how do we get there?  There are six key components every Christian encounters on the path to being fully alive in Jesus.  Without any one of these, the mission falters.  The follower of Jesus needs to worship, grow, connect, serve, influence, and share.  In this series we will do some healthy analysis and, in combination with Biblical teaching, provide the necessary resources for further growth, with the goal of worshiping authentically, growing intentionally, connecting regularly, serving faithfully, influencing purposefully, and sharing generously.

If you had to give your Christian life a grade, what would it be?  In what parts of your walk with God are you doing well?  Where are you struggling?  There are six components to the Christian life which, when nurtured and strengthened, take us down a discipleship pathway to fullness of life in Jesus.  As we explore these, we will be encouraged, equipped, and empowered to be Spirit-led champions.

Acts 2:41-47 41 So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 43 And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

About the speaker

David Langewisch

First and foremost you need to know I am a sinner who has been cleansed by the blood of Jesus. I believe my life is fully in him. I feel good about my training to be a pastor. However, my heart's desire is to simply be a servant of Christ, used by him to help people experience fullness of life in him. Sometimes I think I’m smart. Sometimes I think I’m funny. But I count all of this as a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ and being found in him. My favorite book of the Bible is Romans, and if you have to pin me down, my favorite chapter is Romans 8. Personally, I think this matters more than knowing I’m from Minnesota, or that I was graduated from Lutheran schools starting with elementary school. Curiosity might lead you to ask about my wonderful wife, Lynn, and four children, but I would probably exaggerate about their greatness and how helpful would that be? If you really want to know other positions I’ve held, honors I’ve received, etc., you can ask and I will try to remember. But when you walk away from our conversation, this is what I want you to remember about me – I am a sinner who has been cleansed by the blood of Jesus and I believe my life is fully in him. And if, in my contact with you, some of this rubs off on you, and you share the same perspective with greater conviction, I will count it a blessing.
