Upcoming Sermon Series - "Lent - Worship to Weekday"  Began February 22nd

This series focuses on keeping Christ central throughout the week through spiritual disciplines, explored in Adele Calhoun’s book, Spiritual Disciplines Practices that Transform Us. Sometimes we hate discipline and rules, but by creating habits with them we’ll find ourselves better connected to God. We will be interacting with Him more daily—throughout the 168 hours a week given to us—more than an hour on Sunday.

In this six-week, twelve-session series on Sundays and Wednesdays, we will be reminded that we need him more than food, that His Word is more valuable than gold. We will be equipped with Scripture and community to better face obstacles such as doubt. We will also receive tools to be reminded of God’s blessings in good times, and be guided how to confess regularly when we fall short. We will be equipped to witness boldly to our neighbors and serve them, and pray over our neighborhood as we walk.

Good Friday is a Christian observance that commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It occurs on the Friday before Easter and is part of Holy Week. Good Friday is a day of mourning, reflection, and repentance, as Christians remember the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

Join us for this service, worship is a solemn focus on the crucifixion of Jesus. The liturgy often includes scripture readings, a sermon, and prayers and the strepitus, but communion is not offered. The service features the reading of the Passion narrative from the Gospels, recounting the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion. We have a Tenebrae service, which involves the gradual extinguishing of candles or dimming of lights to symbolize the darkness that fell upon the earth when Jesus died. The service ends in silence and darkness, with worshippers departing in quiet reflection.
