Bethlehem Lutheran Church & School is committed to providing excellence in opportunities for growth to be fully alive in Jesus. In light of that goal, we also recognize that reaching that level of excellence cannot be achieved alone. Bethlehem has been blessed to have many volunteers who are committed to our ministry and mission. But as you can imagine, this work of ministry is never finished. That is where you come in.
If you have an interest in using your unique gifts and abilities to partner with us in ministry, we are excited about having you as a part of our team.
Below are a list of the several service ministries we have at Bethlehem. Take a look through the ministries and their descriptions. Altar Guild is a service group that supports the ministry through preparing the altar for communion and worship. They meet Saturdays at 10:00 AM to prepare and then during worship services. Members rotate weekend responsibilities.
ALL GOD’S RINGERS (BELL CHOIR)
We are blessed here at Bethlehem to have five full octaves of hand bells. If you can count, we can teach you to ring. It’s a delightful sound! We rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm in the balcony, and we help to lead worship as frequently as we can. Please talk to one of our ringers, and plan to join us!
BethlehemKIDS starts with our Nursery for infants and toddlers providing a caring, loving, grace filled environment for little one up to age 3, during worship. When kids turn 3 they move into our preschool room called The Clubhouse for age appropriate lessons and activities during the middle and late services. Bethlehem KIDS start in worship and are dismissed right before the sermon. Kids in 1st through 4th grade meet in the elementary room. If you love babies and toddlers and Jesus, the Nursery is a great place to volunteer. Small and large group leaders are needed to nurture kids in their faith formation in our Preschool and Elementary rooms. The commitment is every other week.
Communication Station. Volunteers here help connect people with the information they need about our ministry. One Sunday a month, all morning long.
Sermon filming-Volunteers needed to film the 10:30 sermon, 1-2 Sundays a month.
Photographers-Volunteers needed to get snapshots of the interior/exterior of church and school, adult Sunday classes, The Table Thursday night service, Living Well showers, and others. NO experience needed-a phone can be used!
Social Media-Volunteers needed to assist with posting on BLCS social media accounts. Only a smart phone is needed.
DISCIPLESHIP GROUP LEADER
Don’t walk the path alone. LEAD friends, new and old, to travel alongside. Each Discipleship Group is made up of eight to twelve people who share the ups and downs of faith and life through five distinct components: Bible study, prayer, sharing faith stories, experiencing relationships with encouragement and accountability, and service. Meeting times and topics are determined by each individual group.
DISCOVERY GROUP LEADER
Lead a variety of these 8 to 12 week studies and topics. Subjects cover a wide range of Christian living including leadership, marriage, becoming a more godly man or woman, and even personal finance programs. Sunday mornings primarily, but may be offered other days as well.
Van and Bus -Drive for Church and School
FAMILY EVENT TEAM
Assists in planning family events for the year.
FAMILY PICNIC TEAM
4-6 meetings to plan the fall picnic.
God’s Limo is an extension of the greeter’s ministry. God’s Limo reflects the love of Jesus in assisting members and visitors with disabilities, the handicapped, the elderly, injured and those with small children by transporting them safely to and from the sanctuary and the chapel on Sunday mornings in a 6 passenger hospitality golf cart.
Prepares our campus for Christmas and Easter with special decorations.
A group of vibrant singers who love to visit our members in senior living care centers to bring music and joy to them. Practice is on Thursdays at 11:00 am.
Level 56 is a ministry focused on helping kids transition to a whole new level of faith and life as they move through 5th & 6th grade. Recognizing that this is a critical time in their lives, Bethlehem is dedicated to giving these students a fun space where they can bond with friends and a safe place where they can freely ask questions about God. With dedicated leaders and a Christian community surrounding them, it is our goal to give your 5th or 6th grade student a strong foundation to grow together in faith and in life. Leaders needed Sundays at 10:30 am. Lead activities and discussion.
Bethlehem’s Lutheran Women in Mission seeks to assist women in affirming their relationship with the Triune God so that they are enabled to use their gifts in ministry to the people of the world. LWML is an official auxiliary of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod and has been in existence for more than 60 years with a membership of nearly 200,000 worldwide.
MAINTENANCE-INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR
As needed M-Sat. Handyman projects, Landscaping, tree trimming, clean up.
MARY MARTHA SOCIETY
Mary Martha provides women an opportunity for Christian growth and Christian service. Each group meeting is opened with a devotion followed by an inspirational speaker or hands-on project to be given to shut-ins. This group also serves funeral luncheons, receptions, helps with the up-keep of the vicarage, offers bake sales and fundraisers. Members also minister to shut-ins by writing notes, making phone calls and visits.
1-2 Sundays a month, assist with sound, video and projection.
Miracle Workers is the name of both a Bethlehem Life Group and a coalition of west-side churches who, in partnership with Thrivent Builds and Habitat Metro Denver, have combined their efforts to finance and provide volunteers to help build Habitat homes for families who cannot afford one. Volunteering can be in the form of financial contributions or helping one or more days to build the home (which is definitely a hands on experience WITH NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED).

PRAYER AND PRAISE
Thursday mornings. Pray for requests of our community.
This group consists of warm and welcoming members who greet at each of our services on Sunday mornings and for special services. Each member is responsible for one Sunday per month. If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact Ted Waltman using the contact button here.
These ladies and men cover the reception desk and phones during the work day from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. They volunteer for 4-hour shifts (morning and afternoon). If you like to greet visitors, answer the phones, assist with office projects and be the first impression at Bethlehem, please contact Kim Musselman.
The Resurrection Singers is a group of singers that would welcome anyone who wants to sing God’s praise with a small choral group. We sing occasionally for the 7:45 traditional service and rehearse on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.
STEPHEN MINISTRIES & GRIEF MINISTRY
The Grief Ministry provides care for people who are grieving through providing a powerful series of books to those who have lost loved ones, one-on-one conversations, or personal notes and cards during the first year after a loved one dies. The Stephen Ministers walk along side people who are in need of support and to talk through difficult life circumstances.
Once a week, volunteers are needed on the playground, library, kitchen and helping students with reading.
1-2 times a month, the trailer needs hosts to welcome guests, or to drive the trailer.
“THE TABLE” GREETERS
Weekly on Thursday night. Welcome worshippers.
The Ushers at Bethlehem assist with worship by handing out bulletins, collecting the offering, seating people who need assistance, and helping visitors and guests feel welcomed in worship.
WAVES MENTORS (AGE 25-30)
2 times a month on Monday. WAVES is designed so that young adults feel welcomed and feel comfortable to talk about questions they have in their own faith walk, while incorporating the Bible into the discussions. WAVES has a topic each week and some Bible verses to help supplement the conversation.
This group of men is individually recruited by the pastors to assist them in the spiritual care of our congregation. They assist with offering, worship and communion on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings.
These groups serve in worship and consist of the musicians for all Thursday and Sunday worship services. Auditions are offered as openings become available.
Anchored (High School) meets weekly on Sundays. Lighthouse (Middle School) meets once a month. Volunteers needed to lead discussion and activities.
